Profile of YAYRA GLOVER LIMITED
Yayra Glover Limited's Yayra Glover AgroIndustrial Ecopark is a 500-hectare skill development and innovation center in sustainable agriculture, established to contribute to food security and climate change action. The project's values are based on protecting the rights of rural farmers, vulnerable groups, and empowering minority groups, such as women, to improve their livelihoods and take leadership roles. The project also emphasizes preserving natural ecosystems and biodiversity.
The project's establishment is based on the organic cocoa value chain which began 15 years ago by recruiting and training 5000 farmers to produce certified organic cocoa with support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The establishment of Yayra Glover Organic Inputs Limited followed, to source organic insecticide(s) and fertilizer(s) to consolidate the supply chain and preserve the organic model's integrity. However, the primary processing of the cocoa beans into liquor, butter, and powder was skipped due to capital requirements.
As part of establishing a model for interdependent industries, a chocolate manufacturing company from Germany, was invited to establish a chocolate factory as a tenant of the Yayra Glover AgroIndustrial Ecopark leveraging our proof of concept and unique value proposition to raise funds.
Additionally, Beyond Cocoa Strategy (Yayra Glover Food and Beverages Limited) was established to add value to other crops produced by farmers beyond the cocoa season. The initiative is to help diversify farmers' income sources and create opportunities for sustainable food production.
